Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service provides advice and guidance in respect of fire safety at work and other places. This guidance will help businesses meet their legal requirements.

Fire safety law

The Fire Safety Order covers general fire precautions and other fire safety duties which are needed to protect 'relevant persons' in case of fire.

Fire risk assessment

A fire risk assessment is an evaluation of the premises identifying hazards, or potential hazards and determining the likelihood (risk) that such hazards will cause harm.

Fire safety training

A common cause of injuries sustained in fire incidents, is the failure of the occupants of a building, whether staff or members of the public, to take the appropriate action when fire is discovered or a fire alarm is raised.

Business continuity is about having common sense precautions in place to help you survive a disruption and recover afterwards should this occur.

Fire extinguishers

As a business owner, you have responsibility for the provision of appropriate firefighting equipment. It is also your responsibility to check that all firefighting equipment is located correctly and in effective working order.

False alarms

Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service (DFRS) have launched a new Unwanted Fire Alarm Signal procedure. This will change how DFRS respond to some calls from Automatic Fire Alarms.

Building Regulation and Fire Safety consultations
