A 43 year old man has tragically died as a result of an accidental house fire on High Street, Tibshelf, Derbyshire.
Firefighters from Alfreton, Clay Cross and Nottinghamshire’s Ashfield Station attended the fire at 12.47 hours on Monday 18th May following a call from a neighbour who had seen smoke coming from the front door.
On arrival at the scene, Firefighters were met with a well-developed fire on the ground floor of the property. Firefighters entered the building wearing breathing apparatus and rescued the casualty from the first floor.
The casualty was handed into the care of paramedics and taken to hospital with life threatening injuries. Sadly the Service has been informed that the man passed away yesterday.
The thoughts and sympathy of everyone at Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service are extended to the family and friends of the deceased at this distressing time.
A joint police and fire investigation into the cause of the fire determined the fire was accidental, most likely due to smoking materials.
