At 11:42 hours today, Firefighters were called to attend a serious bungalow fire on Pear Tree Drive, Shirebrook.
On arrival at the scene four Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and rescued an elderly gentleman, handing him into the care of East Midlands Ambulance Service. The gentleman was taken to hospital.
Crews from Shirebrook, Bolsover, and Nottinghamshire’s Mansfield Station attended the incident.
A joint police and fire investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
