Public consultation: Community Risk Management Plan 2023-2026 and 2023 – 2024 Budget

Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service (DFRS) is asking for your views on its draft Community Risk Management Plan 2023-2026, known as ‘Our Plan’, and its 2023 – 2024 Budget in a six-week consultation that opens today.

Our Plan 2023 – 2026 is a key strategic document that sets out The Fire and Rescue Authorities strategic assessment and long-term approach to mitigating and reducing the risk from fire, road traffic collisions and other emergency incidents.

Every fire and rescue authority has a statutory duty to produce such a document, with the Chief Fire Officer having the responsibility to deliver the Plan, ensuring DFRS continues to be a forward-thinking fire and rescue service, meeting the demands of new and emerging risks.

Derbyshire communities were first invited to be involved in developing Our Plan 2023 – 2026 in March this year, when local people with local insight were asked to complete a short survey to identify risk across Derbyshire. This information was reviewed and considered in the development of Our Plan 2023 – 2026 which we are now consulting on.

Budget 2023 – 2024 – In addition to Our Plan, the Service is also seeking views on its budget which as the Service continues to face increasing financial pressure, is critical to the delivery of Our Plan 2023 – 2026.

Derbyshire’s Chief Fire Officer/Chief Executive, Gavin Tomlinson said: “Our Plan is the golden thread that can be seen running from our business and financial planning, through to the planned programme of work that links to our Service priorities, all of which support our vision of Making Derbyshire Safer Together.

“Everyone can get involved in the consultation – Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service is your fire and rescue service, and it is you who we work to keep safe through the delivery of Our Plan 2023 – 26, and it is your public money that funds that work, so naturally we want your views.”
