A joint investigation into the cause of a fire at a disused building on Old Goods Wharf, Great Northern Road has concluded that the fire was started deliberately.
Firefighters were called to attend the well-developed fire at 01:13 hours this morning following a call from police colleagues.
Firefighting operations have now ceased, however crews will continue to regularly inspect the site checking for hotspots over the next 24 hours.
Members of the public are asked to stay away from the building and are reminded of current advice in respect of staying alert and observing social distancing. Parents are asked to ensure children stay away from the site.
The site is being secured by the building developers.
