Firefighters are currently dealing with a fire in a disused building on Old Goods Wharf, Great Northern Road.
Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service received a call to attend the fire at 01:13 hours on Tuesday 26 May 2020 and currently has three fire engines, two aerial ladder platforms, a high volume pump, a water carrier, a command support unit and a welfare unit, supported by crews from Ascot Drive, Chesterfield, Kingsway, Ilkeston, Belper, Long Eaton and Ashbourne at the scene.
Water is being pumped from Markeaton Brook to assist with firefighting.
Friar Gate and local road closures are in place.
People are being asked to avoid the area and be reminded of social distancing restrictions in line with current Government advice to stay alert and prevent the spread of Covid-19.
