The body of a man has been found at the scene of a flat fire over the weekend.
At 11.33 hours on Saturday 12 March, Firefighters from Swadlincote, Melbourne and Staffordshire’s Burton-on-Trent responded to reports of a fire in a flat on Midland Road in Swadlincote.
On entering the property Firefighters discovered there had been a fire in the kitchen. Tragically they also discovered the body of one deceased male.
The thoughts and sympathy of everyone at Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service are with the family and friends of the deceased at this distressing time.
A fire investigation into the cause of the fire has determined that the most probable cause was accidental due to cooking.
An investigation into the cause of death is ongoing.
