A joint police and fire investigation into the cause of a fire at a derelict building in Borrowash, has concluded it was a deliberate ignition.
At 15.04 hours on Wednesday 5 April, firefighters were called to a fire at a former public house on Derby Road, Borrowash.
Crews from Nottingham Road, Ilkeston, and Kingsway attended the incident supported by Ascot Drive with the aerial ladder platform, Long Eaton with the command support and a crew from Leicestershire Fire & Rescue Service with a water carrier.
Employees were evacuated from a commercial garage adjacent to the derelict building. Due to the close proximity, crews used main jets to contain the fire and prevent its spread to the commercial garage.
Firefighters left the scene at around 00.30 hours this morning (Thursday 6 April) but later returned with the aerial ladder platform to check for hot spots.
No one is believed to have been injured in the fire, but a substantial amount of damage has been caused to the building.
A boy has been arrested in connection with the incident.
