A man has tragically died following a serious flat fire on Lower Eley Street, Derby.
Firefighters from Kingsway, Nottingham Road and Ascot Drive were called to attend the fire at 18.45 hours on Monday, 6 March.
On entering the ground floor property, sadly the body of one deceased male was discovered.
The thoughts and sympathy of everyone at Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service are with the family and friends of the deceased at this distressing time
A fire investigation has concluded the most likely cause to be accidental pending further investigations.
Firefighters, Community Safety Officers and partners from Metropolitan Housing will be in the area of Lower Eley Street tomorrow (Wednesday, 8 March) speaking to local residents about fire safety and providing reassurance.
Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service would like to remind people of the following advice:
