Business Support Initiative

Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Authority (DFRA) is the enforcing authority in Derbyshire for the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety Order) 2005. As such DFRA has a statutory duty, which it facilitates through Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service, to carry out fire safety audits of business premises, respond to fire safety complaints and investigate incidents where breaches of fire safety legislation may have occurred. Where necessary, DFRA will use its powers of enforcement to ensure public safety.

The Authority recognises that public fire safety can be enhanced by providing a pro-active and supporting role to businesses and to this end Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service has launched a Business Support Initiative; a project which aims to provide the latest legislative information and updates and supporting information to assist those responsible for business fire safety.

Information is already available in the ‘Fire Safety at work and other places’ section of this website to assist those with a responsibility for fire safety in meeting their statutory obligations. However, in an effort to provide further support subscribers to the project will benefit from additional support and guidance. Benefits will include:

  • Contact with the Project Manager via email.
  • Contact email addresses will not be shared with any third party or subscriber.
  • The Service will endeavour to send subscribers legislative updates and information relative to fire protection in commercial/business premises as it becomes available.
  • The Service will inform subscribers of relevant business support and help initiatives available from the D2N2 Better Business Regulation partnership.

New and emerging businesses can also access the D2N2 Growth Hub website which contains information to support business development. Part of the D2N2 partnership is the ‘Better Business Regulation’ group which actively seeks ways of supporting local businesses by using expertise to proactively assist business.

If you are an owner/director, or are responsible for a business based in Derbyshire and would like to subscribe to this initiative please send the following information via email to: FPSupport@derbys-fire.gov.uk

  • Your preferred email contact
  • Name of your business
  • Nature of your business

Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service is committed to supporting local businesses, helping them to grow and develop and it is hoped that this project will give the Service the opportunity to provide assistance where possible.

Please note that the project length will be dependent upon the number of subscribers and a viability review will be conducted annually.
