Youth Engagement Scheme (YES!)

YES! compact courses are targeted at young people aged 13-16 years who may have low self-esteem, be at risk of exclusion, disengaged with education, or may be young carers.

YES! compact course

The YES! compact programme is currently run over 1 week and also includes a BTEC level 1 qualification in personal skills and teamwork. The scheme works with individual schools or agencies utilising additional specialist skills from partners such as Derbyshire Constabulary.

Through a mix of classroom and 'drill type' activities the students gain an insight into Derbyshire Fire & Rescue activities aimed at improving the students self-confidence/self-esteem and promote teamwork.

Through the YES! compact course we also aim to contribute to the following outcomes:

  • Reduce anti-social behaviour
  • Improve school and work placement attendance levels
  • Develop an understanding and appreciation for the communities in which the young people live
  • Develop an aspiration for a more positive future

If you want to find out more about these schemes or if any are running in your area, please contact a member of the Youth Team at our Prevention & Inclusion Department on 01773 305496, 01773 305494 or email us at Prevention&InclusionAdmin@Derbys-Fire.Gov.UK
