Business Safety Advisor

Working within the Protection department of the Community Safety Portfolio, our BSAs support businesses to understand and comply with their statutory duties relating to fire safety legislation, advising on emergency planning and signposting to further information or enforcing authorities. BSAs travel around the county visiting businesses, working with owners and responsible persons to reduce unwanted fire signals and assisting crews with community engagement to deliver fire safety enforcement campaigns.

Community Safety Officers

Working within the Prevention & Inclusion department of the Community Safety Portfolio, our CSOs work to reduce risk and deliver a high level of targeted intervention to those most at risk living within our communities. Engaging with the community and undertaking home visits, CSOs provide advice and guidance on how to reduce the risk of fire in the home, installing risk reduction equipment as required. CSOs support the P&I portfolio strategies with initiatives, events and school visits and work pro-actively with partner agencies/organisations, including safeguarding procedures, reporting and trend analysis.

Working within the Prevention & Inclusion department of the Community Safety Portfolio our Youth Officers lead, facilitate and assess youth programmes, activities and initiatives delivered by DFRS to engage with young people in the community. Providing advice, guidance and support to employees on the safeguarding of children and acting as the link for external partners following DFRS children’s safeguarding referrals. Developing and delivering training and awareness sessions to support DFRS youth activities and assisting the P&I management team to recruit, train and coordinate Youth Instructors.

Administrators provide varied and comprehensive support to departments across the Service including customer services, business support services, data handling, information technology and systems. Dependant on the operating environment, the role may include a meet and greet service for visitors, call handling and switchboard cover, minute taking, assisting with assessments and exams, analysing and organising report data, assisting with recruitment and selection activities. This role is also part of the Administration Network which provides opportunity for personal development and business continuity. The aim of this is to maintain a flexible administration function across the organisation.
