These washing machines pose a fire risk due to a fault with the door lock. If you have a Hotpoint or Indesit machine you are urged to contact Whirlpool to check if your machine is affected.
Even if you have not owned your machine from new, you must check it does not pose a fire risk. Second hand machines will be repaired or replaced by Whirlpool.
You will need the model and the serial number of your washing machine. They can be found either in the recess door, or on the back of the washing machine.
If you have an affected model contact Whirlpool on their Freephone number to register the product, this can be done 7 days a week.
Appliances such as washing machines, tumble dryers and dishwashers should only be used when the household is awake and will be able to respond in the event of an incident.
You are advised to unplug and not use your machine until it has been repaired or replaced.
