In July 2017, HMICFRS extended its remit to include inspections of England’s fire and rescue service.

HMICFRS completed their third inspection of DFRS in December 2024 and will publish the inspection outcome report in Spring 2025.

HMICFRS also examine and report on critical national issues and themes, including the values and culture in fire and rescue services report, published in 2023, and standards of behaviour in 2024.
