South Asian Domestic Homicides

Request

As a national charity, we support male and female victims and survivors of forced marriage and honour based abuse.  We are currently collating data on domestic homicides and ‘honour’ killings (murders motivated by family ‘honour’) in the UK. We therefore wondered whether you hold any statistics particularly reflective of minority communities including South Asian women? As we wish to clarify how many women have been deliberately murdered via arson or committed suicide by setting themselves on fire. In our experience, both scenarios are common and South Asian women in particular remain three times more likely to commit suicide than their white counterparts.
