About us

We are Derbyshire's fire and rescue service. We are here to make Derbyshire a safer place to live, work and visit.

Who we are

Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service covers over 1,000 square miles, which includes a variety of urban and rural communities with a population of approximately 980,000.

What we do

The work of the service is split into three main categories; prevention and protection, which are part of the community safety portfolio, and response.

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Authority

The Fire & Rescue Authority is funded partly by the Government through the Revenue Support Grant and National Non-Domestic Rates, and partly by the local tax payer in the form of Council Tax.

Corporate Governance is about how DFRA / the Authority ensures the right things are being done in the right way, in a timely, inclusive, open, honest and accountable manner.

Our performance

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service use a suite of Key Performance Measures (KPM) to monitor the performance of the organisation to ensure we provide the best possible outcomes for the communities we serve.
