“I have served on the Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Authority for a number of years and I have witnessed the results of continued collaboration and innovation, from across the whole Service; I am confident we can continue to build on this success in the future.

“I know that my tenure as Chair won’t come without its own challenges, but I am confident that I will have the support of my colleagues on the fire and rescue authority and also the support and professionalism of an outstanding workforce across the whole of Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service.

“Tragically, over the last few months, many incidents have highlighted the dedication of all emergency services UK wide.  I am therefore extremely proud to be part of such a dedicated and professional organisation where everyone works with the aim of making Derbyshire safer.”

Councillor Steve Marshall-Clarke, the 2016/17 outgoing Chair of the Fire and Rescue Authority said: “It has been a privilege to have chaired Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Authority and as I hand over to the newly appointed Chair, Councillor Kevin Buttery, I am confident I am handing over an organisation placed in a strong position to deal with the many challenges that lay ahead.”
