Building Fire Blacksmiths Yard

29/Oct/2017

At 04:20 hours on Sunday 29 October 2017 firefighters were called to attend a building fire on Blacksmiths Yard, Derby.

Firefighters from Nottingham Road, Kingsway, Long Eaton and Melbourne attended the fire, supported by a crew from Ascot Drive who attended with the Aerial Ladder Platform.

One crew from Nottingham Road Fire Station remain at the scene damping down.

The fire investigation is ongoing whilst fire investigators wait for the ceiling of the ground floor bar area to be made safe for entry.

No one was in the building at the time of the fire.

Incident Commander, Station Manager Adam Bleakman said: “On arrival firefighters were met by a well-developed fire which had started in the ground floor bar area.

“Crews worked hard to contain the fire, but unfortunately the fire had already spread upwards into the roof space.

“A fire investigation team will carry out a full fire investigation later today, however at present the cause of the fire is not thought to be suspicious.”
