The Proposals

We have produced a short presentation that outlines the proposed changes which you can watch below.

We have produced a consultation document which outlines the proposed transformation to the Service called Fit to Respond to 2022 - An opportunity to shape the future of Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service, you can download it below.

There is also a reference document (Fit to Respond for Consultation Reference October 2013) which provides more information about the proposals and background reasoning behind the choices made.

This consultation is now closed.

At a meeting of the Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Authority (DFRA) on Thursday 26 September 2013, a report was approved to consult with stakeholders on proposals to transform Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service's service delivery for 2022 and beyond.

Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service (DFRS) is committed to ensuring that it is 'Fit to Respond' to the challenges it faces in the future. To do that, the Service must change and build on the outstanding work undertaken so far that makes DFRS the excellent Service it is today.

It has been extremely encouraging to see the number of people attending the public consultation events held throughout the County.  It is evident that there is a thriving population of people who are keen to be involved in all aspects of their local community.

It has been essential that Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service consult with as many of its stakeholders as possible, collecting their views and comments on the proposals put forward in the 'Fit to Respond' consultation.

We have had a good response to our survey and we have been able to engage with many stakeholders - listening to their views and comments and answering questions around their concerns.  All comments and views returned through the consultation process will now be considered following the close of the 'Fit to Respond' survey on the 23 December 2013.

A full evaluation report of the comprehensive evaluation will be taken to the next Fire Authority meeting on the 13 February 2014, following which the results and outcome will be made available on our website.
