Unwanted Fire Signals

Unwanted Fire Signals

A false alarm is an actuation of a fire alarm system resulting from a cause other than fire.

An unwanted fire signal is when that false alarm is passed to the fire service.

It is a misconception that false alarms are simply an annoyance or inconvenience. In reality they impact considerably on the cost of our service provision to the rate payer, the prosperity of commerce and more importantly, the safety of the public of Derbyshire.

From the 1st of May 2010 Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service will be implementing a new policy to deal with false alarms generated by low to medium risk commercial / business and educational premises.

Browse the sections below to find out why this change is happening, the reasons behind the change and the new policy details.
