Service recieves RoSPA award for another year
Members of the Safety and Risk Management team attended a gala dinner and awards presentation in Birmingham on the 17th of May. Lord Jordan of Bournville, President of RoSPA, presented the Services Senior Safety Advisor with our award.
The award recognises what we have achieved as a service, and such achievements of excellence couldn't be achieved without everyone's involvement.
This year we were commended for our excellence in health and safety at work in the Emergency Services Sector. This award is the latest in a long line of awards we have received from RoSPA in acknowledgement of our continuous investment in health and safety.
The application involves submitting evidence of work, projects and achievements that have been undertaken throughout the service which highlight our efforts to improve health and safety both for our employees and the communities of Derbyshire. There are also questions to answer covering subjects including:
- The involvement of management in the leadership of safety and health
- Our work in ensuring health and safety competence through learning and development
- Prevention and protection activities (including the launch of our sprinkler campaign)
- Our building stock and how we manage contractors
- How we trial, assess and procure our equipment and PPE
- The health and well-being facilities and specialists that are available
Accident statistics are also provided, which are compared year on year to ensure that we are striving for a safer work place.
You can read more about the award in our associated press release.
